Flashback Friday: Walt Disney World February 2015 – Part 1
In February of 2015, we headed to Walt Disney World for the trio’s third trip to Orlando. This trip was their big Christmas gift for Christmas 2014 and I bought them the cutest ornament to surprise them with the news that we were going on a cruise! That was our first year swimming for the Illinois Valley dolphins, so the dolphins on the ornament had a double purpose!
I had just decided to become a travel agent in November and I knew there was no better way to have all of the details I wanted to share with my clients than to start traveling like crazy myself! If you look at my travel page, you’ll quickly notice that the trips increased significantly for our family at that point!
There is rarely a year I don’t escape the Midwest in February! I love traveling in February because everything is so gray and cold in the Midwest during that time and it is around our anniversary. For this trip, we did a split stay with time at Boulder Creek Villas at Wilderness Lodge, the Villas at the Grand Floridian, and a Bahamas Disney Cruise. This was the trio’s third trip to Orlando and their first cruise!
Our journey got off to a rocky start as we headed to see Frozen on Ice in Chicago the night before the trip and ended up stuck in traffic. We made it, but we were late, and it was not the start of the trip I was hoping for!
We spent the night by the airport and flew to Orlando early the next morning.
Once we arrived, we enjoyed the pool at Wilderness Lodge and spent some time relaxing. Unsurprisingly, there was a boat ride to the Polynesian and Dole Whip was involved!
The next morning, we headed to the Magic Kingdom! I love that my trio has been able to grow up at Disney. Every trip and every experience as they have grown and changed, has been more and more fun — but I am so glad to have the memories of our time together in the parks when they were little. We had a great day and of course, ate Mickey Bars and took the requisite photo on the People Mover!
We closed down the park for the first time with the trio that evening. There is nothing quite like riding the Astro Orbiter at night during the fireworks!
The craziest part — this was over 5 years ago — yet I can still remember so many moments from those first few days of our trip so clearly! What I love most about traveling with my family is the memories we make and I love being able to think back and remember the little details. I am sure there are lots of little moments I don’t remember too… but the ones that I do remember, make those trips priceless.
There is no place I’d rather walk 10.16 miles with three small children either! 😉
