Pensacola Beach
Our first vacation post-shelter-in-place was to Pensacola Beach. Mike surprised me (or tried to anyway… I don’t surprise well!) and planned everything with my friend and agent, Ashley, and it was just what our family needed. Sun, sand, and sea!
Our room had a balcony that looked out over the resort and the gulf. For me, there is something that is just so rejuvenating about watching the waves. “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana is one of my theme-songs. ? The line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me… ?
During our trip, we ate our dinners at restaurants — mostly outside – but one night we even ate inside a restaurant – which felt ridiculously indulgent after months of cooking at home! There were only two other families in the restaurant and we were all social distanced, but it still felt amazing to have that little bit of normalcy!
Our days quickly found a rhythm — coffee on the balcony and then time in the pool, lunch in the room followed by the afternoon at the beach before showering for dinner. And most of our evenings also included ice cream! It’s not really a beach trip if ice cream isn’t involved!
One of the highlights of our trip was that Ashley was in the area visiting her family, so we were able to go to dinner (twice!) and spend time on the beach with her and three of her amazing kiddos!
Of course, there was more ice cream…
And shell collecting…
It felt like we blinked and it was time to head back home.
Our trip was the perfect divider between the shelter-in-place and summer!
