Extreme Adventure – Riviera Maya, Mexico

Spread the love

Last weekend, Mike and I went to Riviera Maya, Mexico with our good friends, Laura and Derek.  We spent most of our time relaxing and eating fish tacos, but we did head out on one excursion.  Our excursion was through Extreme Adventure and despite my lack of bravery, we had a lot of fun!

Our excursion included round-trip transfers and a small van picked us up at our resort around 8:30 am on Sunday morning.  It was about a 20-25 minute drive and when we arrived we were briefed regarding safety procedures for the different aspects of our adventure.  We ziplined, rode ATVs, and then spent some time in a gorgeous cenote.

Ziplining was mostly fun!  I am really afraid of heights, but I had ziplined before, so that helped a bit.  The most challenging part for me was a ropes area with very small foot landings to get across.  Eek!  Overall, it was a great ziplining course and I was by far the biggest chicken of our group.

After ziplining, we headed out on ATVs to go to the cenote.  The terrain was bumpy and I have a fear of ATVs anyway (I know too many people who have been hurt on them…).  I told Mike as we were riding, “If you ever questioned if I trust you, this should answer that question for you!”  The fact that I was willing to climb on the back of an ATV with Mike at the helm says a lot!

It was about a 20-minute journey through the jungle we made it to a gorgeous cenote. The cenote was my favorite part of the tour.  I didn’t zipline into it like Mike did (see above mention of being a chicken…) but I enjoyed hanging out in the beautiful water and watching everyone else jump in!

We rode the ATVs back to the site and then had a snack – pork tacos.  They were amazing!  I also had a delicious pineapple soft drink that I may have to track down here in Illinois.  It was tasty – kinda like a pineapple Crush!
