Universal Orlando Resort – Mardi Gras and Volcano Bay!

Spread the love

At my agency, we’ve started doing little “pop-up” trips to go explore different places, parks, and experiences where we want to have firsthand experience.  This has been a lot of fun and is a cost-effective way for us to see and do many trips that would be cost prohibitive if we were always traveling with our family.  Plus, we like hanging out with each other – so that’s a perk too! 🙂

This trip started with the desire to try some of the Mardi Gras food at Universal Orlando Resort, so in Mid-March I met Samantha and Sharon at Universal Orlando Resort.  We bought a tasting lanyard and for lunch tasted our way around several of the different food booths.  It was a great experience and we tried lots of tasty treats!

Of course, we enjoyed the attractions, social distanced photos with characters, and Butterbeer too!  You’ll notice my Butterbeer is by the Globus Mundi sign — that’s the travel agency in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

There are lots of things I love about these trips.  I enjoy the slower pace and being able to really take things in as an agent.  I struggle to balance that when I’m traveling with my family.  When I’m with them, I want to focus on them and what they want to do.  But the travel agent in me wants to see all the little details, take pictures, and explore from that perspective.  Traveling with other travel agents allows us to look at the location from an agent perspective – discussing the type of clients who would prefer certain things, tips and tricks we can highlight, etc.

We also went to Volcano Bay!  Sharon and Samantha had not been previously (they’ve both been back with their families since this trip… I guess that says something!) and this allowed me to share the park with them and I always enjoy experiencing attractions with friends who have never tried them before.

Of course, in additional to Mardi Gras food, we also ate well — desserts at Toothsome and of course, Mexican at Antojitos – and a delicious meal at Big Fire too.

Samantha is from Kentucky and Sharon is from North Carolina.  As our agency is growing, we are adding several other states too.  It never fails to amazing me how the universe puts the right people in your life at the right time.  I’ve been lucky to have several fun adventures with my agents over the last year.  Find your people.  Then travel with them!
